Interview on the Socio-Cultural Radio

Two of our members, Joël Adami and Thierry Heles will be on the Luxemburgish Socio-Cultural Radio (colloquially referred to by its frequency 100.7) for an interview tomorrow, Thursday 16 September, in which they will talk about our readings, our movement and the motivation and philosophy behind it. The interview will be broadcast as part of the show Rendez-Vous mam Buch, which is on air from 18.30 to 19. It will be repeated at 22.30 and the show will be made available online after the broadcast – so don’t panic if you miss it.

We’re still sifting through the images and the videos from our reading at the Vianden Book Days, so stay tuned for a bunch of new content to be put online soon!

We’re reading at the Vianden Book Days again

It’s been quiet here for a while, but we are still alive and kicking. And we’re making a return to the stage with a bang! Following the great time we all had last year at the Vianden Book Days, the organisers have asked us to come back for this year’s edition. But to make things even more exciting than last year, we are, for the very first time, not reading alone but have invited our friends from the Münster based group Prosa1 to join us!

The reading will take place on September 12th at the Ancien Cinéma (same venue as last year) and start at 4pm. The entrance, as always, is of course free. We’re still not about making money, but about giving exposure to young and inspiring writers and having a good time with our audience.

We hope to see you there! Don’t hesitate to bring some friends, too. And feel free to download the poster here below and email it to whoever you think would enjoy a fun afternoon listening to new and original writers.

As we told you a few months ago, we will be reading at the Exit07 tomorrow night (i.e. December 17th) at 9pm. Entrance is of course free. Bring along your friends and family, for what promises to be yet another great literary event presented by yours sincerely. There will be new prose and poetry by Sara, Joël Adami and Thierry Heles – some of which has not been published yet!

First of all: a big thanks to all those of you who made it to Vianden last Saturday, despite the nasty weather and the not-so-central location of this beautiful town.

It took a few days to skim through all the audiovisual material but the pictures and a few videoclips are now finally available. As an added bonus, the videoclips are in widescreen this time seeing as this reading was filmed in full HD resolution. You can find the pictures and watch he videoclips under events.

And if you weren’t able to make it to this reading, don’t be too sad. There’ll be another one on December 17th at the Exit07, which will be reopening this coming Saturday. More details on that as the date draws closer, so stay tuned!

It’s been quite a while since our last update, but there’s a good reason: we’ve been busy setting up more readings! The first of these is taking place during the Festival du Livre à Vianden on September 13th. We’ll start reading at 15.30, at the Ancien Cinéma.

Then, Joël Adami is reading some of his best Angscht a Schrecken texts at the new Exit07 (CarréRotondes) in Hollerich. 21 o’clock on December 10th. It’s not a part of les jeunes mélancoliques, but since he is one of our highly regarded members, we thought we’d give him a bit of free publicity here.

Last but not least, les jeunes mélancoliques are reading at the Exit07 as well. On December 17th, at 21 o’clock.

We hope to see you there! Enjoy the rest of your summer, and, if you’re as devastated about Sara’s decision to take her blog offline as we are, here’s something to make up for it a bit: there’s an all new video of Sara on the events page, where she’s reading “a tribute to that season”. Our first anniversary!

Did you know that a year ago today the manifesto was published and the movement initiated? Many people doubted les jeunes mélancoliques would become more than yet another idea – our generation doesn’t like to take matters into their hands, they said. Look at us now, and what we’ve achieved within twelve months – we’ve put up this website filled with short stories, essays and poems, we’ve gathered five young writers and had a very successful reading in December.

We want to take this opportunity and thank all of you who believed in this movement and who supported it. The release date of our DVD is still not fixed as our editor is busy preparing for graduation, but rest assured it will be released as soon as possible. It has become a bit quiet around here, but there is quite a lot happening behind the scenes – stay tuned.

As the whole reading took over two hours, we are unable to provide the whole reading as a download file. However we are planning to make it available on a DVD which will be available against a handling & shipping fee. More information on this will follow as we’re still working out the details.

First of all we’d like to thank all of you who came to our very first reading last night, and thank you for your feedback. It was an amazing experience and we felt very lucky that our young movement already appeals to so many people.
There’s one person who deserves very special thanks: A big shout goes out to Fred Baus, event manager at the D:qliq, for giving us this incredible opportunity of reading at his venue!

We have put online a couple of pictures (thanks to Nico Heles) for those of you who couldn’t make it and of course for those of you who want to reminisce this great evening. There’s also over two hours of video material which we’re now sifting through. We will put up a couple of videoclips in the days to come, so stay tuned.

There are already two reviews online, one’s by Georges Walther aka bloGeescht, and the other one is by Joël Seiller.

First reading tonight!

Three members of les jeunes mélancoliques, namely Sara, Joël Adami, and Thierry Heles, will be reading a selection of short stories, poems and essays at the D:qliq tonight. It starts at 21 o’clock and entrance is free, but please come early to avoid disappointment as there’s only room for about a hundred people.

D:qliq is located in the rue du St. Esprit at number 17 in Luxembourg-City. The reading will take place on the first floor (the staircase is situated in the back corner of the ground floor by the bar).

In case you won’t be able to make it, rest assured: the event will be filmed in its entirety and photographs will be taken – all of which will be published on here in the days following the event.
